No previous experience is required. Your 60-minute session includes an instructor, equipment and private targets for your group.

What is weapon throwing?
Weapon throwing at Sports de Combats is an instructor-guided Montreal experience where participants learn to throw axes, tomahawks, knives, spears and other specialty weapons at designated targets.
Do I need previous experience?
No. The Level 1 beginner experience is designed for first-time throwers. Your instructor explains the safety rules, demonstrates proper form and coaches your group throughout the session.
How long is the beginner session?
The instructed beginner experience includes a 60-minute throwing session with safety instruction, demonstrations, guided practice, games and friendly challenges.
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age for the beginner weapon-throwing experience is 10 years old.
Will our group have private targets?
Yes. Level 1 packages include private targets for your group, so you do not have to share your targets with strangers. The number of targets depends on your group size.
Is equipment included?
Yes. Equipment is included with the Level 1 beginner experience. Open-practice participants must bring approved equipment or rent an approved axe or throwing knife.
Which weapons can we try?
The collection includes axes, hatchets, tomahawks, throwing knives, spears and specialty weapons. The weapons used during a session may depend on participant readiness, instructor guidance and safe throwing conditions.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended for a safe and comfortable throwing experience.
Is an instructor with us?
Yes. An experienced instructor guides the complete Level 1 session, provides demonstrations and helps your group improve its throwing technique.
Is weapon throwing safe?
Sessions begin with safety rules and a throwing demonstration. Participants must follow the instructor’s directions, handle equipment responsibly and throw only when instructed.
What is Level 2 open practice?
Open practice is a 120-minute session for experienced throwers. It includes two shared targets for up to six participants. An instructor and equipment are not included.
Can I rent open-practice equipment?
Yes. An approved axe or throwing knife can be rented for $5 plus tax per person. Participants may also bring their own approved competitive equipment.
Are axe-throwing leagues available?
Yes. Level 3 is designed for throwers interested in continued development and organized IATF-sanctioned axe-throwing leagues.
What if we have more than eight people?
Contact Sports de Combats before booking. The team can help organize the targets, timing and booking arrangement that best fits your larger group.
Can you bring axe throwing to our location?
Yes. Sports de Combats offers mobile event options that can bring an axe-throwing experience to eligible private, corporate and community locations. Space, surface, access and safety requirements apply. Visit our Mobile Events page to review the service and request more information.
Are prices per person?
Yes. The prices displayed in the weapon-throwing pricing section are per person and before applicable taxes. The price depends on the number of participants in your group.
Should I reserve in advance?
Yes. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for evenings, weekends and larger groups. Booking ahead gives you the best selection of available session times.
